Les associations tunisiennes célèbrent la journée mondiale de la biodiversité / Tunisian NGOs celebrate World Biodiversity Day

De nombreuses associations d’environnement et de développement ont célébré le 22 mai 2008  la journée mondiale de la biodiversité  qui a pour thème cette année  «la biodiversité et l’agriculture».

Elles ont manifesté l’intérêt qu’elles accordent à la biodiversité en Tunisie et la sécurité alimentaire et leur engagement à œuvrer en partenariat avec les acteurs locaux et nationaux à préserver la biodiversité et à participer au développement de  l’agriculture.

Les actions entreprises par les ONG et particulièrement celles partenaires du programme de Micro Financements du Fonds pour l’Environnement Mondial  ( UNDP - GEF/SGP) pour sur lutte contre la dégradation des terres agricoles, et la préservations des ressources naturelles .

Les initiatives lancées par l’ASM Gafsa, L’Association Ettafaoul Gafsa et l’Association de l’Environnement de Kélibia sont illustrées par les présentes photos

On May 22, 2008, many environmental NGOs celebrated the World Day of biodiversity. This year’s theme is “biodiversity and agriculture”.
They have expressed their interest in biodiversity and food security in Tunisia and their commitment to work in partnership with local and national stakeholders to preserve biodiversity and participate in the development of agriculture.
The actions undertaken by NGOs and particularly those partnering with the Small Grant Program of the Global Environmental Fund (UNDP - GEF / SGP) on the fight against agricultural land degradation and natural resources conservation.
The initiatives launched by ASM Gafsa, Gafsa Ettafaoul Association and the Association of Environment Kelibia are illustrated by the photos above.

Blogs & Développement Durable/ Blogs & Sustainable Development

An English message follows.

De plus en plus de Tunisiens s’intéressent aux blogs. Ils parlent de leurs vies, discutent les évènements du moment, analysent des phénomènes sociaux, font de l’humour….Etc. La communauté des bloggeurs tunisiens s’agrandit chaque jour et des liens entre bloggeurs se forment. Un petit détour sur tn-blogs, l’agrégateur fédérateur des blogs tunisiens, vous donnera une idée de ce que se publie et se discute en ce moment.

De temps en temps, certains bloggeurs traitent du Développement Durable tels que Tarek qui a voulu partager une «Petite leçon de développement durable». L’équipe KEN a choisi de republier son post :

« Je viens de me rappeler d’une émission que j’ai regardée sur TV5 en mars 2004, une émission intitulée 24 heures à Tunis. Je suis resté cloué devant mon poste de télé pendant tout un week-end. D’abord parce que le pays me manquait beaucoup à l’époque ( il me manque encore plus maintenant!) et ensuite parce qu’il y avait un certain nombre de moments forts. Parmi ceux-ci l’histoire d’une femme rurale extrêmement pauvre, une self-made-woman qui s’est construite une vie de l’élevage de deux moutons. Elle racontait comment elle a pu gérer de petites rentrées d’argent et les réinvestir à chaque fois dans l’achat d’autres moutons, et comment elle a pu réparer et embellir sa petite demeure grâce a cet argent. Elle racontait aussi que ses enfants étaient tous scolarisés, et qu’elle faisait tout ce qu’elle pouvait pour qu’ils le restent en dépit des conditions de vie précaires. Le moment qui m’a le plus marqué était lorsqu’elle a montré un trou dans le mur. Le journaliste lui a demandé ce que c’était, et elle a répondu que c’était l’emplacement du poste de télévision qu’elle allait acheter pour ses enfants dès qu’elle en aurait les moyens. Elle riait en disant que ce n’était pas pour bientôt mais qu’elle était sûre qu’elle allait y arriver. Cette dame ne m’a pas inspiré la pitié. Au contraire, j’étais très fier de voir qu’elle a pu s’en sortir avec beaucoup d’intelligence et de savoir-faire. On voyait beaucoup de joie de vivre dans ses yeux, c’était magnifique.

Le développement durable commence par des gens comme ça. Des gens qui ne stagnent pas et qui n’attendent pas qu’on leur tende la main. Des gens qui bossent et qui croient en eux-mêmes et en un avenir meilleur. »

More and more of Tunisians are showing interest in blogs. They talk about their lives, discuss current events, analyze social phenomena, make humor…Etc. The Tunisian blogging community is growing each day and bonds between bloggers are forming. A quick tour of tn-blogs, aggregator of Tunisian blogs, will give you an idea of what is being published and discussed at the moment.

From time to time, some bloggers bring up the topic of Sustainable Development. A recent example, is Tarek who wanted to share a “lesson in sustainable development” in his personal blog. The KEN Team chose to republish a translation of his post:

I recall a TV program I watched on TV5 in March 2004. The program was entitled 24 hours in Tunis. I was in front of my TV the whole weekend. The main reason was because I was missing my country a lot at the time (I miss it even more now!), but also because there were a number of captivating moments. Among those, there was the story of this extremely poor rural woman, a self-made-woman who lives from the breeding of two sheep. She was saying how she was re-investing small amounts of money she was earning in the purchase of additional sheep, and how she was able to repair and embellish her small home thanks to this income. She was also able to ensure that her children have access to education and stay in school despite precarious living conditions. But the moment that stroke me the most, was when she was showing a hole in the wall. When the reporter asked her what it was for, she replied that it was the location of a TV set she was planning to buy for her children whenever she can afford it. She was laughing saying that it was not going to be any time soon but that she was sure she will be able to, one day. This lady did not inspire me pity. On the contrary, I was very proud to see that she could survive thanks to a great deal of intelligence and know-how. One could see lots of joy in her eyes, it was marvelous.

Sustainable Development starts with people like this. People who do not stagnate and wait for someone to give them a hand. People who work and believe in themselves and in a better future.
